The Sunshine Tour

Highlights of The Sunshine Tour:

From the home of Disney World we head east to the Atlantic.
We’ll pass by Cape Canaveral - and of course Daytona - then
cruise the beauty of A1A along the coast.  After a great ride
through the Ocala National Forest we turn north, then west into
the Panhandle.  One day we’ll experience the dramatic scenery
of Apalachicola National Forest and the Gulf of Mexico,
the next we’ll enjoy the back roads of North Florida.
We’ll ride by Cedar Keys National Wildlife Refuge, and see
thoroughbred horse farms, before returning to Orlando
and the end of our unique one-week North Florida adventure.

Saturday – Arrival in Orlando, FL

The riders will get together in the evening with our Ride America tour guide to discuss the exciting week ahead.

Day 1 – Sunday – Orlando to St. Augustine - 182 miles

Here we go, riding out of Orlando this morning east to Cape Canaveral and the Kennedy Space Center.  We turn north to Daytona, then follow Highway A1A along the Atlantic to St. Augustine.

Day 2 – Monday – Circle ride to Deland - 222 miles

A great scenic ride today, past the oldest house in the USA and south to Deland.  We turn north through the Ocala National Forest and ride by Lake George, then across St. Johns River on our way back to St. Augustine.

Day 3 – Tuesday – St. Augustine to Tallahassee - 217 miles

Load up and ride out this morning, up A1A to Jacksonville, before turning west into the Panhandle.  Nice easy cruising, passing by Osceola National Forest and on to Tallahassee.

Day 4 – Wednesday – Circle ride to Apalachicola - 210 miles

Nice quiet back roads riding today, south to Apalachee Bay and the Gulf of Mexico.  We'll follow the coast along St. George Shoal, then turn north through the Apalachicola National Forest and by Lake Iamonia on our return to Tallahassee.

Day 5 – Thursday – Tallahassee to Ocala - 192 miles

We head south this morning, riding through the flatlands and horse farms of northern Florida.  We'll pass by Devils Millhopper Geological Site, just outside Gainesville, then continue on to Ocala.

Day 6 – Friday – Circle ride to Cedar Key - 194 miles

A beautiful ride west to the Gulf today, to Crystal River Archaeological Site and Wacasassa Bay, and a stop at spectacular Cedar Key.  This afternoon we'll ride back roads on our return to Ocala.

Day 7 – Saturday – Ocala to Orlando - 107 miles

Alas, it's time already to start heading back to Orlando.  If you are flying out, plan your flight departure for after 2:00pm.

Ride America may from time to time make changes to this
itinerary, as circumstances require.
